BCSC 111: Foundations of Cognitive Science

Required or recommended for: BCS major (required)
Psychology majors are advised to take BCSC/PSYC 112
and not BCSC 111 as one of the two natural science core courses for the PSYC concentration. Students cannot receive credit
for both BCSC/PSYC 111 and BCSC/PSYC 112.
BCSC 111 introduces the organization of mental processes underlying cognition and behavior. Topics include perception, language, learning, memory, and intelligence. The course integrates knowledge of cognition generated from the field of cognitive psychology with findings from artificial intelligence and cognitive neuroscience.
